Oh Crap!!

I just looked up the long term forecast for Saskatchewan for March. I wish I hadn't. Here's what's in store:
1st-3rd. Storm center over Prairies brings blizzard danger

4th-7th. Another storm brings rapid changes in temperatures, precipitation.

12th-15th. Rain, snow covers large areas of Rockies, Prairies

16th-19th. Early spring storm over Saskatchewan brings heavy snow.

24th-27th. Storm moves east from Alberta-Saskatchewan bringing snow to Manitoba, points east.

28th-31st. Mixed clouds, sun.
In some sadistic sort of way, I suppose that means "In like a lion. Out like a lamb."

And April ain't much better.  Bah. Humbug. I'm sick of winter!!

I`m Down With That...

..Two Killed in Suicide Attack Outside Iranian Consulate in Pakistan
“We sent a suicide bomber to target the Iranian consulate and Iranians inside the building,” the spokesman said.

“They unfortunately remained safe.

“We will continue to target Iranian installations and the Shi'a community everywhere,” he added.

Iran is Pakistan's predominantly Shi'ite Muslim neighbor to the west. Radical Sunni militants frequently attacks Shi'ite targets and mosques in Pakistan, describing minority Shi'ites as infidels to be exterminated.``
As long as they are killing each other, that`s fine by me.

Justice!

Michael Mann Faces Bankruptcy as his Courtroom Climate Capers Collapse
"Massive counterclaims, in excess of $10 million, have just been filed against climate scientist Michael Mann after lawyers affirmed that the former golden boy of global warming alarmism had sensationally failed in his exasperating three-year bid to sue skeptic Canadian climatologist, Tim Ball. Door now wide open for criminal investigation into Climategate conspiracy."
Oooh. This just got a whole lot more interesting. I can think of a whole slew of "scientists" who should be sued. Not only that, but a big bunch of people who will be jumping off cliffs and window ledges.

Good Time To Be Canadian

Poloz Calls Canada Inflation, Business Data Encouraging
"Recent data on Canadian inflation and business creation are encouraging and support the central bank’s view that a recovery in the world’s 11th largest economy is under way, Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz said."
[---]

Traders look to latest Canadian, U.S. economic growth data
"The Toronto stock market looks to build on the solid gains racked up so far this year as traders get set to consider the latest economic growth figures for Canada and the United States this week, along with earnings reports from the big Canadian banks.

The Canadian dollar could find itself under renewed pressure when Statistics Canada releases growth data for December and the fourth quarter on Friday.

December is expected to show a sharp reversal in gross domestic product, largely because of crippling ice storms in Ontario and Quebec towards the end of the month.

"We think that played a huge role in a likely outright decline in December GDP of about 0.3 per cent following a string of pretty decent gains in GDP," said Sal Guatieri, senior economist at BMO Financial Markets.

Guatieri noted that the stormy weather won't affect overall fourth-quarter growth much as the damage occurred late in the month.

"We should still see a pretty decent increase in Q4 GDP of 2.6 per cent," he said."

CBC Gets Orgasmic

Patrick Brazeau on his new job at Ottawa strip club
"You have to go up two flights of stairs and into a mostly dark room where hip-hop plays loudly to see where suspended senator Patrick Brazeau works now.

There is a stage and mirrors and, of course, a brass pole at the Ottawa strip club."
[---]
"You have to go up two flights of stairs and into a mostly dark room where hip-hop plays loudly to see where suspended senator Patrick Brazeau works now.

There is a stage and mirrors and, of course, a brass pole at the Ottawa strip club."
[---]
"Brazeau says he’s doing OK, his health is better, he’s learning the ropes on his second day. He doesn’t seem thrilled with his new job, but neither is he embarrassed.

It is what it is," Brazeau says, “I’ve got four mouths to feed,” referring to his children." [Emphasis added]
[---]
"Isabelle, another dancer, comes along to chat and offer me some “company." When I tell her I’m a reporter, the conversation turns to Brazeau. She has only met him briefly and has no idea who he is or who he was. She doesn’t follow mainstream news, she tells me. She doesn’t really care who he is anyway. She is a little miffed, however, with how the day has unfolded. Earlier she got a text from one of her best customers who told her he wouldn’t be at the club today — too many cameras. She smiles and tells me she knows he’ll be back.

The cameras are gone now.

The club and the dancers are hoping they can just get back to their regular, rather discreet work.

I ask Brazeau whether he expects to see other people he knows at the club.

“It might attract some other clientele now,“ he says with a smile. It is true it's just a five-minute walk from his former place of employment.

He disappears through a back door marked Employees Only. The hockey game is over and Canada managed to win. Most of the gentlemen cheer and get up to leave."

And that's what should be expected in the early afternoon, dingbat.

Hey, CBC, it's a real job in the private sector. Can't say the same for yours. It must just kill you to see a First Nations man taking responsibility for himself and his family, and he`s a Conservative, too. So ripe for the picking, so pick, pick, pick you will.

The Toronto Star isn`t any better. Surprise, surprise.

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

Democrats who oppose Keystone XL pipeline own shares in competing companies
"Democrats who oppose the Keystone XL pipeline have thousands of dollars invested in direct competitors to the company looking to build the pipeline, public records show.

A recent environmental assessment by the State Department was seen as a step toward the pipeline’s approval, but Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., remains opposed to its construction.

“In my view, there is now enough evidence to conclude that construction of this pipeline is not in America’s long-term interest,” Kaine said in a statement on the review.

The freshman Democrat has between $15,000 and $50,000 invested in Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, according to his most recent financial disclosure. Kinder Morgan is looking to build a pipeline that would directly compete with Keystone."
Yawn.

Dopey Slodey-Dopes?

They Have A...

...Department of Moral Affairs??

Gen. Sisi: "Religious Discourse Greatest Challenge Facing Egypt
""According to Egyptian media, during his recent speech at the Dept. of Moral Affairs for the Armed Forces, Gen. Abdul Fateh al-Sisi—the man who ousted former President Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood in response to the June Revolution and who is seen as the nation's de facto ruler—declared that "Religious discourse is the greatest battle and challenge facing the Egyptian people, and pointed to the need for a new vision and a modern, comprehensive understanding of the religion of Islam—rather than relying on a discourse that has not changed for 800 years.""
Other than that, I like what he says:
"Sisi further "called on all who follow the true Islam to improve the image of this religion in front of the world, after Islam has been for decades convicted of violence and destruction around the world, due to the crimes falsely committed in the name of Islam.""
- but I'll believe it when I see it.

Elsewhere in the Middle East, the chief purveyor of radical Islam, will not be outdone:

Nope. You can't call this "global". Look what's happening in the southern hemisphere for God's sake.

The Big Business of Global Warming

But au contraire, according to some (Note the fancy-dancy arguments):

Global warming lurks behind ‘polar vortex’ facade
"...like that tattoo you instantly regretted getting on your 18th birthday, climate change hasn't gone away — it’s just covered up."
[---]
"“The concern with climate change is focused on global temperatures, but the big changes that we potentially see are in the weather systems,” said Illinois State Climatologist Jim Angel. “More storms, more tornadoes, more hurricanes have a bigger impact on us than just getting warmer. The polar vortex is an example of that.”"
RTWT It's chock-a-block full of sky-is -falling contortionist denial, to the point of being hilarious.

Global warming blamed for recent storms in UK

As if Britain has never had storms before.

And I just don't know what to think about this one. Wealthy Californians coming to Canada? As long as they bring their money, I suppose, and leave their brain dead activism against the oil-sands down there on their own left coast.

Time To Pick On...

...the Toronto Maple Leafs again:

(I stole this from some blog. Can't remember how I got there or what it was called. It was in the comments.)
"Two Canadians died and went to hell. They really enjoyed the heat, which made the devil very angry. So he turned down the heat. Still no change, the Canadians were loving it. This went on for days until it was absolutely freezing in Hell. The devil went to find out why the Canadians were jumping with glee. “Why are you so happy?” the devil asked. The Canadians replied, “Hell froze over, the Leafs won the Stanley Cup!”"

Looking Good

Groundhog handlers say Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, forecasting 6 more weeks of winter No word yet on Wiarton Willy. But there was good news for Maritimers
First out this morning was Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Sam -- with a promising prognostication for winter weary Canucks.

Sam did not see his shadow, which means his call is for an early spring.
Thing is, those Maritimers don't know what winter is. Then there's the damned weatherman.
But regardless of what the woodchuck weathermen say, Environment Canada predicts the frigid temperatures that have gripped much of the country the past two months will likely persist through February.
